What is HypnoBirthing?
HypnoBirthing® is a complete childbirth education program that combines an understanding of how the body works in birth with self-hypnosis, relaxation, breathing and practical preparation.
The aim isn’t to promise a particular kind of birth. It’s to help you understand how fear and tension can affect the birthing body, develop skills for working with your nervous system, and approach birth feeling more informed, prepared and confident.
Partners are very much part of the process, learning ways to support the birthing person and take an active role in the experience.
In this information session, we’ll take a look at some of the ideas and practices at the heart of HypnoBirthing®.
What we’ll explore…
Fear, tension & the nervous system
How fear can influence the body during birth — and why feeling safe matters.
Breathing, relaxation & self-hypnosis
How these elements work together as part of birth preparation.
HypnoBirthing for different kinds of birth
How the principles and tools can support you wherever and however your baby is born.
What hypnosis really means
What hypnosis is (and isn't), and how it is used in HypnoBirthing.
The role of the birth partner
How partners can become active, informed members of the birthing team.
Meet Marjorie
I’m a certified HypnoBirthing® educator and CBT hypnotherapist, and I’m happy to be returning to the Chelsea/Wakefield/Ottawa area, where I previously worked as a teacher and birth doula.
My approach to HypnoBirthing brings together childbirth education, an understanding of fear and the nervous system, and practical tools that parents and birth partners can use as they prepare for birth.
This free session is a chance to learn more, ask questions, and see whether HypnoBirthing feels like a good fit for you.
Reserve your place
Come along on your own or with your birth partner or support person. The session is free, but please reserve your place so I know who to expect.
